Executive Director

She was born and raised in Normandy, not far from Caen, and moved to Paris to complete her education and start work. She began her career with a software company, which gave her the opportunity to travel, and later she moved to a major insurance company, gaining experience in human resource management. In 1988 she moved to the UK to be with her husband, and qualified to be a Teacher of French as a foreign language. She has now been teaching French as a foreign language for over 20 years. In 2005, she moved to Seattle with her husband and two daughters and feels very much at home here. In December 2010, after teaching at the Alliance for two years, and serving as Educational Director, she took on the responsibility of Executive Director. She is also a Board member of FACS (The French American Cultural Society), a 501(c)3 organization located in San-Francisco which promotes, develops and supports French-American cultural and educational projects. In 2015 she was made ‘Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques’.

Matthew cutMatthew Christie
Marketing & Cultural Programs Manager

Matthew first came to the Alliance Française de Seattle in June 2015 as a language instructor. A Seattle native, he holds a Masters degree in French Studies from the University of Washington, where he also worked for Professional & Continuing Education in marketing, analyzing customer data and reporting on academic programs.  He also has a strong background in foreign language teaching pedagogy, through teaching French at the University of Washington and English abroad in Clermont-Ferrand, France. He knows the Alliance Française network very well and has a firm belief in its mission and in promoting culture within local communities. Outside of work, Matthew has a wide range of interests including 20th century literature, cooking, photography, playing soccer, and hiking.

Eleonore cutEléonore Jounot - Intern

Eléonore grew up and studied in Brittany, France until graduating with a degree in Political Science. She then started a Master in Arts and Culture before taking a year abroad to travel and discover Australia. It has been a rewarding experience, feeding her love for travel and her wish to work on international projects. Back to Europe, after 6 months in London, Eléonore completed her Master in Engineering of Cultural and Intercultural Projects in Bordeaux to become a cultural events Manager. Freshly graduated she joined the Alliance Française de Seattle in September for one year. Really dynamic and curious, she’s been practicing dance, theater and gymnastics for years and is always looking to try new activities and sports!
