She was born and raised in Normandy, not far from Caen, and moved to Paris to complete her education and start work. She began her career with a software company, which gave her the opportunity to travel, and later she moved to a major insurance company, gaining experience in human resource management. In 1988 she moved to the UK to be with her husband, and qualified to be a Teacher of French as a foreign language. She has now been teaching French as a foreign language for over 20 years. In 2005, she moved to Seattle with her husband and two daughters and feels very much at home here. In December 2010, after teaching at the Alliance for two years, and serving as Educational Director, she took on the responsibility of Executive Director. She is also a Board member of FACS (The French American Cultural Society), a 501(c)3 organization located in San-Francisco which promotes, develops and supports French-American cultural and educational projects. In 2015 she was made ‘Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques’.
Aimie began teaching at the Alliance Française de Seattle in 2011. Originally from Canada’s east coast, she completed her PhD in contemporary French literature at McGill University in 2014 and spent the next few years teaching French language and literature at various universities throughout Canada and the US. She has since found her way back to Seattle with her husband and young son and is excited to once again be working at the AF, supporting and contributing to its mission to promote French language and Francophone cultures throughout the region. Outside of work, Aimie is a running, cycling and literature enthusiast.
Lucile Martinez - Intern
Lucile grew up and studied in Strasbourg, East of France until she graduated in literature. She then started a Master in Translation (French, English and Spanish) and Communication before taking a gap year to join the Alliance Française de Seattle for one year, in order to improve her English and get experience in communication and cultural management. Passionate about literature and cinema, she enjoys biking, running and learning new languages in her free time.
