Our Organization
The Alliance Française de Seattle was founded in 1987; evolving from the Seattle Cercle Française (French Club) that had been in existence for 50 years. We are one of the 135 chapters in the United States of the Alliance Française, the largest network of French language and cultural centers in the world. We are an independently supported American organization governed by our Franco-American Board of Directors, and supported by our members.

Our Programs and Activities
We offer a broad array of fun and engaging programs and activities for people of all ages and at all levels of French language proficiency. Our educational courses, multimedia library resources, social activities, and cultural events all celebrate the French language and culture. Our full calendar of enriching programs includes discussion groups, culinary experiences, children's play groups, film viewings, lectures, performances, and art exhibitions, with themes spanning from historical to current French topics. Our Worldwide Network
The Alliance Française de Seattle is affiliated with the worldwide network established with the founding of the Alliance Française de Paris in 1883 to promote French language and culture, and to foster friendly relations between francophones and francophiles of all racial, national and ethnic origins. The Alliance Française de Paris is represented in the United States by its general delegation based at the French embassy in Washington, D.C. -- the Délégation Générale de l'Alliance Française de Paris aux Etats-Unis. The Alliance Française de Seattle is a member of Federation of Alliances Françaises USA . We work closely with both the Délégation Générale and the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA, connecting our members and community to others throughout the world who share a love of French culture.
