Dear Staff, Friends of the Alliance, Teachers and Families,
It is with great sadness that I share the unfortunate news that our esteemed board member Thierry Rautureau passed away on Sunday, October
29.
Thierry was our board Vice-President and was very involved with all facets of the Alliance’s activities, including most recently our Annual
Gala. He served on the board for over 10 years and was universally loved for his presence, his contribution and his sense of
humor. Many of
our current and former board members knew Thierry very well on a personal level, and fondly remember that he was always willing to go the
extra mile for the AF, from baking crepes for events, donating restaurant vouchers for auctions, and even volunteering at the French Fest
AF booth. In addition to his AF contributions, Thierry was a philanthropist and a prominent member of the Seattle Francophone community,
and also hosted the famous podcast “Hot Stove Radio” with Tom
Douglas under his title "The Chef in the Hat".
This is a sad day for the Alliance community, the staff, and the board, and he will be very much missed. We are all grieving this sudden
loss, and I encourage you to take a moment to celebrate his legacy. The Alliance will be reaching out to Thierry’s family to provide any
support that they may need during this time.
