Euro 2016

Looking to watch soccer (“le vrai” football)?

posterAs France is this year’s host nation, we have partnered with local cafés, bars, pubs, and restaurants to create a guide of Seattle to help you find places to watch the 51 matches that will take place between June 10th and July 10th. Learn more about our partners below!

Soccer, or “Le football”, is arguably France’s most popular sport. With a recent history of success as European champions (1984, 2000) and world champions (1998), players such as Michel Platini, Zinedine Zidane, and Thierry Henry have brought France to the center stage in major competitions. Domestically, club teams such as Paris Saint Germain have further made an impact on the popularity of the sport, attracting big names such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edison Cavani, who helped PSG to the quarter finals of the Champions league in each of the last three seasons.

Abroad, French players are currently making an impact in the major European divisions. The success of players such as Paul Pogba (Juventus), Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid) and Dimitri Payet (West Ham) gives Les Bleus hope of European success in this year’s competition. How far will France go?
Allez les bleus ! Et un… et deux… et trois – zéro !
