Film Screening 3/3: Krzysztof Kieslowski’s trilogy « Trois couleurs », Rouge
The Alliance Française de Seattle is once again partnering with Scarecrow Video, this time to bring you Krzysztof Kieślowski’s trilogy « Trois couleurs » (1993-1994). On the first Thursday in April, May and June, we will be screening each of the films Bleu, Blanc, and Rouge.
The Trois Couleurs trilogy is themed on the French Revolutionary ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity. Rouge is not only the final film of the trilogy, but also the last one of Kieślowski’s career. This film is about fraternity. It shows the evolution of two characters (Irène Jacob and Jean-Louis Trintignant), whose seemingly different lives become increasingly interconnected. Rouge received universal critical acclaim, and was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Director for Kieślowski.
Space is limited, so reserve your spot early for one or all of the films!
