Fundraising Gala 2019

Gala 2019
The Alliance Française de Seattle is a dynamic educational and cultural 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the French language and francophone cultures through unique programs in the Puget Sound area.
As part of an international network of 832 Alliances around the world, we respect high performance standards in French language teaching and thrive to favor cultural diversity by highlighting the value of multicultural understanding. We counted over 1100 members in 2018; with 1200 enrollments in 2018, we ranked 11th among the 110 Alliances in the USA.
On October 25, 2019, AFSeattle is holding its annual Fundraising Gala at Seattle’s iconic Rainier Club. We are delighted to invite you to join us for this evening of Francophile delight in support of our educational and cultural programs!
* We are delighted to count on the presence of the Consul General of France in San Francisco, Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens, for this event! *
Program of the evening: Cocktail, Silent Auction, Seated 4-course Dinner, Raise the Paddle & Dancing.
In 2018, our annual fundraiser allowed us to improve and launch several successful programs and events. We introduced a new digital database for our library, expanded its public hours, purchased new DVDs and contemporary literature, and participated for the first time in the Albertine Prize, a reader’s choice award for 3 to 11 years old. We upgraded our operational infrastructure with new computers for all four classrooms. We organized the 4th Seattle edition of Festinema Junior, and these proceeds, along with partial funding from Seattle’s Office of Arts & Culture–a first for the Alliance–allowed this event to be made free for all public and private schools in the Puget Sound region, hence increasing its community impact. Last but not least, the raised funds were the starting point for our new scholarship program, which currently supports one low-income student every quarter for a total value of $2,000 per year.
Our 2019 Fundraiser will focus on three areas: education, with an objective to offer twice as many scholarships in the 2020 school year; youth multicultural awareness, with an objective to welcome more local schools and students at Festinema Junior; and arts and culture, with an even stronger program of unique and affordable events throughout 2020.
