About the TEF at Alliance Française Seattle

  • TEF sessions are available most Fridays with up to three (3) candidates at a time.
  • Reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and written production are done on a computer.
  • Oral production consists of an interview with one of our accredited examiners. 
  • For more information about the test content, please click on Test Details below.
  • Please read our TEF policies carefully before registering . 
  • To register, please select a date below and follow the registration procedure. The price will vary depending on the type of TEF you select in the registration form.
  • You may retake the test multiple times, provided there is a 60-day waiting period between registrations.
  • Resources to prepare for the test are available on the TEF website.

The Test d’Evaluation de Français (TEF) of the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry is an international benchmark test that measures your level of knowledge and skills in French.

The TEF Canada Immigration is specific to those wishing to emigrate to Canada.

The TEF pour l'intégration, la résidence et la nationalité is specific to those who wish to obtain French citizenship or a resident card.

There are five (5) modules to choose from: written comprehension, oral comprehension, vocabulary & syntax, written expression, and oral expression (approx. 4 hours for all 5 modules)

Certificate sent by email approx. 2-4 weeks after. Valid 2 years

Test d'évaluation de français pour l'immigration au Québec

Registration for 2025 sessions are below.

The Test d’Evaluation de Français (TEF) of the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry is an international benchmark test that measures your level of knowledge and skills in French.

TEF Québec (TEFAQ) is specific to those wishing to emigrate to Québec. Primary applicants must complete the Full examination, while non-primary applicants must complete Electives only.

Full: Written comprehension, oral comprehension, written expression, oral expression (approx. 3.5 hours)
Electives: Oral comprehension, oral expression (approx. 1.5 hours)
